Determining the distance a ship is from two lighthouses?
Sean G asked:
Not sure how to do this…please help!!
Not sure how to do this…please help!!
The navigator of a ship at sea spots two lighthouses that she knows to be 3 miles apart along a straight seashore. She determines that the angles formed between two-line-of-sigh observations of the lighthouses and the line from the ship directly to shore are 15 degrees and 35 degress.
A.) How far is the ship from lighthouse A? (Side A up top)
B.)How far is the ship from light house B? (Side B down low)
C.) How far is the ship from shore? (Side C)
Thanks for any help.
