Have you ever seen a lighthouse upclose? Where was it located?

Lighthouses
Brown eyed girl asked:

I saw a lighthouse on Oak Island in North Carolina. It was the last one built in the U.S. in 1959.

I've been many times to the famous black and white lighthouse on Hatteras Island on the Outer Banks in NC. It is awesome to see up close. In 1999, it was actually lifted up and moved on a rail about a half mile inland because of beach erosion!

Yes..several around the great lakes..AND we stayed in one for a couple of days that a couple ran as a bed & breakfast. It is located near Houghton in Michigan ( above Wisconsin) no longer a working lighthouse..they bought it from the government
