Lighthouses, Outer Banks, N.C?

I am trying to plan a vacation to see all of the lighthouses on the Outer Banks during July of this year. Can you please suggest a good central location to them all to stay? Also, I'm sure it would be cheaper to stay off the beach than on. Do you know any towns that are centrally located and cheaper than the beaches? Thanks!

The coast of north carolina the only town that is across the only town that is across the outer banks are islands off the outer banks are any hotels or motels there are islands off.
